He Speaks!

Originally wanted to write a post about genetic engineering and stem cell research... Then God told me that I should be using my blog to talk about Him... So now here i am... talking about the one God who speaks to us..

I'm sure everyone knows about Jesus of Nazareth who was sent by God to do His bidding on Earth... Jesus was a great man, preaching the Word of God all over Isreal, gathering many followers and healing many... As the son of the king of kings Himself, Jesus performed miracles almost everywhere he went and every miracle performed had a lesson 'attached'... He turned water to wine, fed thousands with bread, healed a leper, raised the dead and walked on water, just to name a few... Of course, He impressed many people but the priests were unhappy with His gaining support from the people and so planned to kill Him... Hence, they offered Judas Iscariot 30 pieces of silver to betray Jesus and hand Him over to the priests... In the end, Jesus died on the cross, crucified... 3 days later, He was raised from the grave and first appeared to His desciples... His death was planned... a divine plan of God to wash away the sins of humans, so that those who believe in Jesus may not perish but have eternal life.... God, the almighty God, sent His one and only son to DIE so that we may LIVE... the Creator loves us that much... The blood of Jesus washes away our sins for Jesus took it all and died for us...

2 years ago, on September 25 2004, a friend of mine brought me to church... There, i was touched by the sermon and so i gave my life to Jesus... I don't have a hard-luck testimonial to share... but what i wanna share is a Father's love...

God is one who speaks... He speaks in many many many ways... through others, through mass media or even through dreams... we as Christians have to learn to listen to Him when we pray or whenever He just wants to speak to us... This comes naturally when you're doing quiet time or when you are so close to God that He just speaks to you even when you're walking down mandai zoo... I was brought up with a scientific background... i was one who believed that EVERYTHING can be explained through science... lately, this view has been changed... i came to realise that i have yet to define what science is... what if religion was another form of science? does this mean that the supernatural is also an explanation? what's the difference between the natural and the supernatural? the normal and the paranormal? is it simply the just the explicable and the inexplicable? let's assume that it's that... so does this mean that once God becomes an explanation or reason for something, does this mean that it's scientific too? that's what got me thinking... it makes sense that God exists too... everything that comes from nature is far too perfect to have existed on its own... or just through pure evolution... Evolution comes from Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection... ie. the best genes are selected to be passed on to the next generation... but how could the genes have existed on their own in the first place? surely some higher power must have created them first... That's where God comes in i guess... i may be wrong cos' i don't know much about genes... apparently, genes are encoded by DNA or RNA and are replicated through cell division... maybe God writes our DNAs? who knows? the point is, i believe that there is a higher being who's in control of the entire universe... omnipotent and omnipresent... then again, there's that famous paradox about the omnipotent God being unable to create a stone that He can't lift... But then again, it is God's very nature to be omnipotent... so if He ever creates a stone that He cannot lift, it will mean that He's not omnipotent... obviously He cannot create something that contradicts His essential nature... therefore He naturally cannot create something that makes Him not omnipotent... As such, God IS omnipotent...

In the past year, i've learnt to listen to the omnipotent God through my emotions... For me, He speaks through my friends and emotions... As a guitarist, i constantly yearn to worship Him with my guitar in church... Because of that, i spend a lotta time honing my skills and tweaking my guitar processor to get the best sound possible... Because of that, i started to drift away from the Heavenly Father... then one day, He suddenly told me that worship is not about the sound you have or how well you play... it's about the Heart... If you have the heart to worship God, then He will be pleased and He'll bless you with the skills to worship Him better... At first, i couldn't fathom how i could improve like that... then it dawned on me that if i had the will, i had the way... if i worship God with all my heart, i'll be playing with all my heart... this means that i'll be playing with all my heart everyday and this will definitely help me improve... By faith, i'll be able to play on the spot... with the Holy Spirit with me...

Faith is scary... It's hard to entrust something so important to something intangible... Fact: God is very very very real... Things in life may fail you... maybe you'd lose your job, maybe you'd fail your exams... But God will NEVER forsake you... He'll never harm you... That's what faith is all about... It's not about believing that God will make everything go smoothly for you... It's about believing that everything happens the way God planned it and that in the end it's for your own good... One cannot become stronger if he doesn't suffer at all... It takes faith to be strong... Do you have the faith to dedicate your life to God? He has so much planned for you... plans to prosper you and not to harm you... Do you have the faith to believe in that? Christianity is not just about praying and reading the Bible... It's about listening and having a relationship with your Heavenly Father... Ladies and gentlemen, our God is a God who speaks to us... Let those who have ears hear what He has to say... The time has come for us to realise that He reigns above all else!!!
